- Koshering Services-If you are moving into a new home, or would like to kosher your current residence, but are not sure what is involved, Don't Despair. Chabad is here. Call us at 834-1512 and we will be happy to come to your home to familiarize you with the laws and customs of keeping Kosher, and to help you with Koshering your dishes, cooking utensils and appliances.
Prison Visitations On a regular basis, Rabbi Schlanger visits the various Correctional Facilities in the Kern County are, to visit the Jewish inmates. He engages in Torah discussions, and holds prayer services. Before and during holidays we have special services and programs. - Mezuzah house calls Is your Mezuzah a blessing? If it's an "original" hand written Mezuzah on scared parchment, if it's written in Torah script by an ordained and dedicated scribe, then it identifies, sanctifies and protects your home with its blessing. But, if you are not sure, or your Mezuzah has been up for more than 7 years, which according to Jewish Law, it should be inspected to ensure that the ink has not faded and that parchment is still intact. Call us at 835-8381and we will be happy to come to your home, free of charge, and inspect your Mezuzah. If you are moving into a new home, apartment, or office, we will help you make the proper blessings and put up the Mezuzah correctly.
- Hospital Visitations On a weekly basis, Rabbi Schlanger visits Jewish patients, whether affiliated or not, at the local hospitals, to recite a prayer, get the Hebrew name for the "Mi-Sheberach" to be recited in the synagogue, and offer any other assistance that might be needed.
-Retirement Home Visitations -On a weekly basis, Rabbi Schlanger visits Jewish residents of the local retirement homes. If you know of a resident that can use a visit please contact Chabad of Bakersfield.
